Dear Fellow Bears,

As most of you are aware, we have two legends, Andy Goram and Lorenzo Amoruso joining us for the annual golf gubbing of the Dims at Arabian Ranches on February 16th 2012.

The evening function will follow the same lines as previous years.

Click on the Food Menu link below to see what is on offer for the evening so you all know what to expect. The cost for tickets is 300 AED per head.

Rangers Golf Day Buffet Menu – 16th Feb.2012

The evening will kick off at 7.30pm with an open bar from 7.30 until 10.30, thereafter it will be a cash bar until you are ready to head home.

Format for the evening will be as follows:

Welcome drinks in the Baker Finch room (upstairs in the Ranches GC)
Welcome to our guests by myself and quick chat about the victory on the day !
Food will be served from 8pm onwards and then we will have a Q&A session with the lads followed by an auction and raffle – with some of the proceeds going to charity.

IMPORTANT – Please note that if you choose to bid for any of the auction items on the night then we will be asking for a downpayment straight away as we had some issues last year with certain individuals reneging on their bids and not paying. Please remember that we are supporting charities now and ask you to only submit bids with the intention of paying in full.

Please let George, Hazel or myself know how many places you need as there is only room for 100 people so we expect tables to be filled quickly. In particular, anyone looking to reserve a table of 10 should let us know quickly so this can be reserved in advance.

As usual, Mike will be taking payment as you arrive.

MUCH MORE LIKE IT!

The Champions put out a much changed team at Ibrox yesterday and right from the start played at a higher tempo than previous weeks and dominated the match from start to finish.

Goals from David Healy, Sone Aluko and an own goal from Stephen Craigan gave the Gers an emphatic, well deserved 3-0 victory.

The victory came at a cost however, with Kyle Lafferty being stretchered off in the 1st half with a hamstring injury which looks likely to keep him out for the next 4 or 5 weeks.

There are lots of rumours about changes taking place during this transfer window, so I expect there will be many changes to this team during future weeks but let’s hope they an keep up this level of performance and good football.

With a little over a month to go 2011 looked like finishing on a high, but unfortunately The Champions hit a run of bad form and now go into 2012, two points behind in the SPL. But, with all to play for and a number of changes likely to take place during the transfer window it’s important that we hit the ground running today against Motherwell at Ibrox.

The match kicks-off at 7pm local time in Dubai and will be shown live in Centre Circle as always.

BIG NIGHT TONIGHT

I couldn’t bring myself to comment on Saturday’s game, but Rubmary Gunn won the Golden Goal with the 1st being scored in the 11th minute, before it all went Pete Tong.

Anyway, enough of that and on to tonight.

For anyone coming for a curry, we have a deal and food will be served in Centre Circle bar from 9pm onwards. It’s AED35.00 per head with a choice of three meals.

The match against The Mendicants kicks-off at 11.45pm and will be screened live in Centre Circle.

Bears,

As you are all aware the Old Firm match is on Wednesday the 28th and will be shown live at the Centre Circle, Kick-Off 11.45pm. George Wilson is organising a Curry Night in the hotel which will be an eat and drink package and it would be great to see a big turnout sharing some crimbo spirit and drinking some too.

The club have also dug deep and we will be laying on a few Christmas beers for those members who turn up for the match and the pub have agreed to lay on some midnight snacks for the match.

Anyone who fancies coming along to the Curry Night should either contact myself or George Wilson. Please do so this week so we can book the table and have a good idea of numbers.

Before the big game on Tuesday we have a very important match away to St Mirren on Saturday, kick-off 4.45pm in Dubai as always the match will be on in the pub so hopefully i will see many of you there. For those who can’t make it at the weekend, have a great Christmas with your family and friends and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday night!

ANOTHER TOUGH ONE, BUT GERS STAY 4 CLEAR

The Champions put in another less than impressive performance at home to Inverness on Saturday, but goals from Carlos Bocanegra in the 55th minute (Mike Smith wins this weeks Golden Goal) and Kyle Lafferty in the 82nd minute were enough to secure the points and maintain the gap at the top of the SPL.

The next match is on Christmas Eve with The Champions away to St Mirren. The match kicks-off at 4.45pm local time in Dubai and will be shown live in Centre Circle as always – great chance to avoid any last minute shopping and have a few beers while waiting for Santa to arrive.

Next up will be the Mendicants on Wednesday 28th – the match kicks-off at 11.45pm and will be live in Centre Circle. Don’t forget to let George know if you are planning to come for a pre-match curry.

CHAMPIONS PICK UP IMPORTANT WIN

Rangers put out what looked like a really defensive formation away to Hibs yesterday, with only Nikica Jelavic up front, supported by Gregg Wylde on the wing.

The first half was pretty tough to watch, with neither side really creating any chances. But the introduction of Thomas Bendikson, in the 56th minute, helped the Champions to look more of an attacking threat in the 2nd half and two goals from Nikica Jelavic (the first from a penalty in the 61st minute – no Golden Goal Winner this week – if you want to take up one of the spare sets of minutes, let George know) were enough to keep The Champions 4 points clear at the top of the SPL.

Next game for the Gers is at home to Inverness next Saturday, 17th December. The match kicks off at 7pm local time in Dubai, so ditch the Christmas shopping and come down to centre Circle and watch the match live.

Don’t forget to let George know if you are interested in coming to the Christmas night this Friday or if you fancy a pre-match curry before the Mhanky Mhob game on the 28th of December.

Rangers Music, which is owned entirely by the club, has just brought out its first Album; the Album is called the Rangers Christmas Album it is available for download NOW on iTunes, by clicking the link below:

To Download the Rangers Christmas Album will cost you £7.99 from iTunes, with10% of sales will going towards the Govan Salvation Army’s Charity, the homeless, needy, and Children from disadvantaged backgrounds so we will be helping others less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas.

The Govan Salvation Army Band donated their services free of charge playing in 9 of the tunes on the CD this gave it the Christmas feel. They did a great job, with two of them also singing on the Album.

The Rangers Christmas Album is a fun Album, with 14 Traditional Christmas Hymns all with Rangers Lyrics added to them, including a Broxi Bear song for the kids.

The hard copy CDs should be available in most HMV and JJB stores over the coming weekend priced £9.99 and should, depending on sales, still be available to buy at the next Rangers Home game against Inverness CT on 17^th December.

Everyone involved in the making of this CD did so in their spare time and donated their services free of charge.

CHAMPIONS BACK ON TRACK?

Rangers put in another less than convincing performance on Saturday, but at least this time we managed to come away with the three points, thanks to a Keddie own goal in the 22nd minute (no Golden Goal Winner this week) and a Nikica Jelavic penalty in the 29th minute after man of the match Sone Aluko went down in the box. Dunfermline got one back soon afterwards in the 31st minute but the Gers went on to take the three points and remain 4 points clear at the top of the SPL.

Next game for The Champions is a tough one away to Hibs on Saturday 10th December. The match kicks-off at 4.30pm local time in Dubai and as always will be shown live in Centre Circle.

Don’t forget to let George Wilson (george_wilson@goodyear.com) know if you are interested in attending the Christmas Night Out on the 16th of December – all members are welcome. In addition we are planning a pre-match curry prior to the Mhanky Mhob game on the 28th of December – the match will kick-off at 11.45pm so plenty of time for a few beers before the game. NOTHING GOOD TO SAY

Not a good day yesterday:

For the 2nd week in a row Rangers failed to make any chances and put in a really poor performance. The lead at the top of the table is now down to 4 points.
Just to make it worse there was no alcohol in the bar until 6pm, so we had to watch most of a terrible game sober.

Kilmarnock scored in the 80th minute, Stuart Barr wins this weeks Golden Goal (first time this season Rangers have not scored the first goal in an SPL match).

Next game is on Saturday at home to Dunfermline. The match kicks-off at 7pm local time and will be shown live in Centre Circle – hopefully with some beer this time.
